COCOMI Announces Civil Disobedience Campaign, Boycotts Governor
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has declared a civil disobedience movement across Manipur and a public boycott of the Governor following a deeply disturbing incident during the Shirui Lily Festival.
During a press tour to Ukhrul for the festival, journalists were reportedly asked by security personnel to remove the words “Manipur State Transport” from a government bus. COCOMI strongly condemned this act as an attack on the identity and dignity of the people of Manipur.
In response, COCOMI has:
- Demanded a public apology from the Governor, who was present during the incident.
- Called for the resignation of Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi and DGP Rajiv Singh.
- Announced that all civil society organizations and local bodies cease cooperation with the Governor’s office.
As part of the civil disobedience campaign:
- Peaceful rallies, mass protests, torch processions, and sit-ins will be organized across the state.
- The movement will remain non-violent and democratic, focused on restoring the self-respect of the people.
COCOMI urges the people of Manipur to stand united in defending their identity, dignity, and political integrity.
